Barkers Road 14th June 1884 – Hawthorn

I could find no advertisements for this subdivision but there were a number for the agents saying ‘Look for the flags”. No directions, no hint as to what was on offer. The subdivision is in 2 parts – the first on the south west corner of Power and Barkers Road and extends south for nearly 330 feet and west along Barkers Road to cover both sides of Margaret Sreet (now Elgin). The second section starts on Barkers on both sides of Colvin Grove and heads south for 330 feet. The blocks in Colvin Grove, initially 46 feet wide, seem to have been further subdivided sometime later.
