Description
In the Herald Thursday the 2nd of December 1915, Page 4, they reported:-
…. 28 allotments were offered. There was a fair attendance, but bidding was spiritless. Lot 2 with a 5 room WB villa sold £430, Lot 28 with a villa and 2 acres brought £650, Lot 27 facing Laburnum Street, 152ft by 400 ft, 14/- per frontage foot. Those on Whitehorse Road realised 23/- per foot and 13/- to 14/- away from Whitehorse Road.
Part of Lot 27 may now be the start of Salisbury Avenue. The subdivision starts on the southern side of Whitehorse Road from the western side of Stuart Street (now Laburnum) to about half way between Sergeant Street and Frankcom Street. It then heads south over the railway line to a point about parallel with the Avenue. It does not extend as far as Myrtle Grove along Laburnum Street.
