Looking south east along Commercial Street towards the Bank of Australasia – later the ANZ.
Description
We are looking south east along Commercial Street in the 1920s. The Rose Postcard photographer has managed to get a point of view that is some three or more metres above the road level. Maybe standing on the roof of a wagon. Interestingly the transport is nearly a 50/50 mix of horse drawn and motor vehicles. The railway line is off to the left of the image. On the right is the local picture theatre which burn down in 1982.
