Description
The 6th of October and we have 110 allotments for sale in two sections. In the Mercury and Weekly Courier of the 12th of October the auctioneer, Mr. Langridge, reported:-
They also sold, in conjunction with Messrs Hammill and Forrester, Blackburn Township Estate.
The whole of the lots submitted were sold at very satisfactory prices, realising a total of £8903 13s. 2d., the balance being withdrawn from private sale. Total sales for the day, £19,586 1s. 5d.
Not a bad result. The development is between The Parade (now South Parade) and The Avenue and in the est covers both sides of Gardenia Street and in the west, probably Riviera Lane. I’m not sure what has happened to Orchard Street.
