Description
This was the first of the Box Hill Township subdivisions. This section starts on Elgar Road at Thames street runs east along both sides of Thames Street to Station Street and then north to the southern side of Severn Street. The poster makes a big deal of the fact that the auction is on Christmas Eve, that they would be giving visitors the “new invigorating Tonic Wine VIN DE COCA” and would serve “Christmas Dinner in the Marquee”. The wine was made using coca and its use declined after 1918 in a fight against cocaine.
