Description
A private sale of 74 allotments. Sales started in 1927 and this poster must have been printed late 1928 or 1929 (there is a reprint of a “Herald ” newpaper article from November 1928). Each year the vendors offered the winners of a competition (one was a crossword puzzle) a free £10 deposit on the land. They even managed to get coverage in the “Benalla Ensign” in 1929. There they quoted the selling price of some blocks, Lot 65 for instance was for sale at £220, The development runs north from South Road to approximately numbers 68/69 on Glencairn Avenue.
