Description

It is 10 years since the first subdivision and the executors of Mathew O’Shanassy’s will are offering, at auction, the last 25 (or maybe 27) lots. Sale prices appear to be fairly uniform, varying from £5-15-0 to just £6-5-0. Lot 12, for example, sold for £6 per frontage foot – a total of £444.  The small text below the heading was repeated in an advertisement in the Argus of the 30th of November 1901 (page 2). The original estate was bounded by Canterbury Road in the north, Loch Street in the east, Burwood Street in the south and Burke Road in the west.
