Erindale and Quat Quatta Estates 7th October 1911 – Ripponlea and Elsternwick

Advertising started in early September for this subdivision and ran in many Melbourne newspapers until the day of the auction. Originally there were 65 allotments but one with an existing house and an ajoining block have been withdrawn or have been sold prior to the auction date. Much was made of the fact that the area had been “locked up for over 50 years”. There no reports in the newspapers of what happened when the area was “freed”. The subdivision is in 2 parts, the Quat Quatta section east of the railway line and the Erindale section west of the line. Streets involved include Brighton (now Nepean HIghway), Fuller and Glen Eira Roads, Victoria, Erindale and Quat Quatta Avenues and Linden Street.
