Description

It is the start of WWI and T. R. B. Morton & Son are testing the market with 80 allotments in Blackburn. Two have already been sold before  the poster was printed. The subdivision is bounded in the west by both sides of Myrtle Grove, in the north by the railway line and in the south by View Street (now Linum). It extends only five allotment to the east along Laburnum Street, The Avenue, Fushsia Street and View (now Linum )Street. The Age on the 10th of November had a report on the sale:-

BLACKBURN – BLOCKS.
Messrs. T. R. B. Morton and Son report sale of Frankcom’s  Paddock, Blackburn, on Saturday last, when 80 blocks were submitted. The attendance was large, and the bidding brisk. The whole of the lots were sold within an hour. Prices ranged from 17/6 to 5/6 per foot, and the sales totalled £2524.
Imagine, 80 lots in less than an hour.
