Description
This 1929 development is centered on Menin Road, named after a battle in France in September 1917. The estate is named after a battle near Ypres in May 1915. The auctioneer has marked the sale price of many of the blocks – most went for less than 25/6 per frontage foot except Lot 22 on Mount Pleasant Road – that went for 30/- per foot – £93 or $186 (1929 money). It is of interest that they thought it worthwhile to use a tenth of the poster to show all the train fares to the city daily singles to a yearly return ticket.
