Description
Well the “Land Boom” has burst and in paragraph 3 under “Opening of Land Season 1889-90” says it all.
“3. It is considered by some that it is premature to expect to sell land at present …”
The plan was to sell by auction the pink shaded allotments on the eastern end of the subdivision and the balance (with any unsold blocks) as private sales. The vendors has set “Upset” (reserve) prices for each block – these prices were available from the auctioneers.
The whole estate, known as the Racecourse Paddock, is bounded by Elgar Road in the west, Hopetoun Parade in the north, Thurston Street in the east and Both sides of Brougham Crescent in the south.
