Description
This land was known as Mr. Auguste Deschamps’ Vineyard and the advertisements claim that there were purple grapes on each block – probably hermitage grapes. The total subdivision may have been over 60 allotments but a good number have been sold prior to the auction. The vineyard ran from the Main Street (Maroondah Highway) south along Deschamps Avenue and Bellevue (now Belle Vue) to Mount View (now Mont Vue).
