Description
The first auction of this subdivision was on the 25th of September 1886, the second a week later on the 2nd of October and this is the third on the 9th of October. It would seem the the auctioneers will not be as busy as they were on the first two auctions as most of the blocks have been sold. Initially the “Upset” price (the reserve price) was 6s (60 cents) a frontage foot but for this sale that has been dropped to 5 shillings (50 cents). The subdivision starts on the south east corner of Railway Avenue (now Queens Avenue) and Albert Avenue and heads south east along Queens Avenue and the railway line to Springvale Road Then heads south to capture both sides of St James Avenue. It takes in many avenues along the way – Windsor, Victoria, Royal, St Johns, Buckingham, Balmoral and Osborne.
