A large development of 109 lots in Sandringham, although the artist/auctioneer seems to have thought it better to call it Brighton. We are fortunate in that someone has written in the price of some of the blocks – lot 12 for example, on the corner of Melrose Street and Beach Road, sold for £2-11-0 per foot, an 80 foot frontage makes that £204/$408 in 1884 money.  It’s interesting that blocks off the main roads sold for much less. Streets involved include Abbott, Waltham, Melrose, Trentham, Harston, and Mock Streets and Sandringham, Eastbourne and Beach Roads.
