Description
Just prior to WWI – an auction of 7 shop sites fronting Union Road and 9 villa sites on Bedford Avenue, Blackburn Street and Montrose Steet. At a guess one say that the shop sites and two of the villa sites sold as there appears to be sale prices marked on the map. Lot 6, one of the shops, sold for £5 per foot of the frontage and the total is written in as well (29 feet at £5 per foot) – £145. That’s $290 in dollars (1914 dollars).
