On horseback at left is William Baragwanath, who published detailed reports on the Ballarat and Walhalla goldfields. The party are heading to Mt Baw Baw loooking for signs of potential mineral findings.
Description
The original of the image may be with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). They published a copy which was slightly wider than this image which came from the State Library of Victoria. The library has the year as 1904 but in the earlier publication by DEECA (then Earth Resources) they claim 1898.
