Description
William Marshall & Co. have produced a precise poster for this 1886 auction. Given 41 lots have already been sold there must have been an earlier sale (I could not find any reference to it). There was another sale, 3 weeks after this, offering further lots – the auctioneer used exactly the same advertisement just changing the date.The whole development starts on the south east corner of Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads and extends east along Glen Eira to Bambra Road. Then south down Bambra to the southern side of Arthur (now Marriot) Street. From Hawthorn Road the estate extends along both sides of Alfred Street, picking up Anderson Street, to include the eastern side of Albert (now Webb Street).
The poster is a little frayed on the bottom left corner – I’ve left it that way.
