Parana 3rd October 1885 – Brighton

While the poster declares that there are 31 lots for sale in the Parana Estate the numbers only go to 30. However, there is a block between lots 25 and 26 which is unnumbered. Advertisements in the Herald on the Saturday before the auction say that there will only be 30 Lots. The arrangement of the lots is also “different”, two lots, 29 and 30 seem to be part of something separate, especially 29.  The sale must have been relatively successful as 26 have prices noted by the auctioneer. Lot 1, for example, sold for £4-5-0 per frontage foot – a total of £221. The prices are a little faint and are upside down but on the print thay are quite clear. Streets covered include parts of Were and Moffat Streets.,
