Essendon Park Moonee Ponds 2nd of October 1886 – Essendon
$16.50 – $49.50
118 blocks for sale in October 1886. Bounded by Albion Salisbury the Moonee Ponds Creek and nearly to Tennyson Street.
Description
Munro & Baillieu have 118 blocks in this, the first of a series of sales running into December. The big “A” and the rolling series of advertisement were the clue. According to the Argus of the following Monday, all 118 allotments sold in less than an hour. That’s one every 30 seconds – it takes our local agents nearly an hour to read out the contract. The balance of the subdivision went to market the next Saturday. This section is bounded by Salisbury Street in the south, the Moonee Ponds Creek in the east, Albion Street in the north and the properties facing Tennison Street in the west. The “Upset 16/- per foot” is the reserve price on the land.
