Description
A subdivision that starts on the south side of Buckley Street. Bounded in the west by Kinnord Street (now St. Kinnord – comes from leading a very good life) and moves east to cover both sides of Waverley Street and then south to the north side of Alma Street. It’s interesting that they offered frontages of 100 feet in the side streets. The paper, the North Melbourne Advertiser, reported on the Saturday following the sale:-
“Doubtless, the intelligence that portions of the Aberfeldie Estate fetched as much as £10 per foot on Saturday last may have something to do with the activity of speculators.”
They were referring to shares in the development company.
