Description
The actual auction was scheduled for 3 O’Clock on the 27th of March 1926 and there were many advertisements in the Melbourne papers. There was even a report on the sale in the Herald on the 21st of April, a bit late but good they did report.
“Messrs Duncan and Waller Pt.v. Ltd. report having sold, land in the Airedale estate, Upper Hawthorn, as follows: — Tooronga road, £6/10/- per foot; Auburn road, £6/10/- to £6/5/- per foot; Wiseman street, £5 per foot, and Airedale Avenue, £5 to £3/10/- per foot. In all, 14 blocks were sold, totalling £4104.”
The subdivision runs along Airedale Avenue between Auburn Road and Tooronga Road and slips northward along Auburn to Wiseman Street.
