Description
This the estate of the late Mr F. T. Fankhauser whose family held the land for some 50 years. The subdivision has 102 allotments for sale which include 2 houses. It covers both sides of Yongala and Fredrick Streets starting on Balwyn Road and heading west to a couple of blocks short of Nott Street. Newspaper reports on the sale classified the crowd as “good”. Balwyn Road properties made £4-6-0 to £4-11-0 per frontage foot while Yongala Street reached £2-10-0 to £3-15-0 and Frederick Street went for £2-1-0 to £3-10-0. Strangely, in October 1924 (nearly a year later) 80 allotments were being advertised with a minimum price of £1-15-0 per foot.
