The 3rd sale of a huge subdivision. This one was very successful selling well above the “Upset” (reserve) price of 10/- a frontage foot Hover you cursor over the map for an enlarged view.
Description
As the posters declares this is the 3rd sale in this subdivision. There were two earlier sales 12th and 19th of September 1885 and there were to be further sales on the 10th and 24th of October. I found a report of the last sale on the 11 of December. Each sale had some 50 or so allotments for sale. The 3rd sale had 67 allotments on offer and 65 sold, most selling for between 15/- and 22/- per frontage foot – sale price of £45 to £66 per block. Those closest to the Government Road, Blackshaws Road, would have been the higher. Blackshaws Road sold for between 30/- and 26/- per frontage foot. This sale covers blocks on the eastern side of Watt and both sides of Stephenson Streets between Blackshaws Road and Moresby Street.
