Description
An article from the “Reporter” (Box Hill) of the 5th of December 1924 described this sale as very successful and said that two blocks on Mont Albert Road went for £9-10-0 and £8 -0-0 per frontage foot respectively (they were the highest). Other blocks managed over £5-0-0 per foot. It appears from the poster that lot 37 went to Mr. Jenkins at £6 per foot – £402 in total. Quite a sum in 1924. The development centres around Black, Proudfoot and View Streets running north from Mont Albert Roed to Bruce Street (now Serpentine).
