Description
According to early advertisements for the auction the land was held by the Simpson family for over 50 years. Brought late 1860s, resisted the temptations of the late 1880s and are selling just before the boom in the 1920s. Not all lots sold on the day – a small advertisement appeared on the 30th of April seaking buyers for “.. a few remaining blocks”. A previous holder of the poster has written in the year of the auction. I have left it while working on the rest of the poster. The subdivision starts on Whitehorse Road just to the west of Box Hill City oval and runs north along Bolton and Pendle Streets to Shipton Street.
