Description

Munro & Baillieu have a 125 lot auction set down for 1886. The development starts on the bridge where Burke Road crosses the railway line runs northward to the start of BUrwwod Road and then flows west until it picks up both sides of Gillman Street. It covers all of Auburn Parade, Burwood Avenue, Carrington Avenue and the south side of Burwood Road. It seems that they had a “bumper” day as there are names and prices written against most blocks. Prices varied from £1-15-0 lot 90 (very small) to over £3-0-0 for regular blocks to the Palace Hotel site, lot 114, which went for £13-10-0. A large chunk has been taken out of the poster at the bottom, I have left that as it was.
