We have 104 allotments up for auction at an “Upset” price (the reserve price) of 6 shillings a frontage foot. Most lots were 40 feet wide so the cost would be 240 shillings, $24 in decimal currency. This sale is bounded by Station Street in the east, Ballarat Road in the north, Burnside Street in the west and both sides of Tulloch Street in the south. Two streets cut east/west through the development, Canterbury and Fraser (now Christie) Street. The sale must have been successful as the area to the west went on sale 3 weeks later.
