Description
An auction from September 1914 of some 111 lots. The newspaper article from the “Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell Citizen” of the 2nd of October seems to suggest that the auction was held on the 26th of September.
HARTWELL ESTATE SALE.
Messrs. Coghill and Haughton report that last Saturday they conducted
a very successful sale of the pretty Hartwell Estate, Camberwell, and
sold 91 out of the 1o9 lots comprising the estate. That the land would
have sold still better had it been a fine day is evidenced by the fact that
of the remaining 18 lots, seven have been sold since Monday, and’ buyers
who thought the sale was sure to have been postponed are looking at the
balance. The sale commenced with lot 29 on the Hartwell Hill road,
which was knocke down at 37s. Other lots in the same road sold from
30/- down to I4/-; lots in Lodge Road from 32/-. to 12/-.
Brook Road, 21/- to 6/-; Wattle Valley-road Extension,
27/- to 9/-; Top-road, 25/- to 21/-; and Norwood road, 26/- to 24/-.
The total sold under the hammer amounted to £4534.
