Description

Originally offer as land for private sale at £300-350 per acre the subdivision went to auction on the 19th of May 1888. In August, just three months later sections H and I had been further subdivided into building lots and offered for sale. That is when they knew how to handle paper work and approvals just happened. The massive development is bounded in the west by Water (now Waterdale) Road, Altona Street in the north, Upper Heidelberg Road in the east and Bell Street in the south. Gotha, Edwin, Alfred, Dresden, Munich and St Hellier Street cut through the development. The further subdivisions led to the putting through of Eden, Disney, Sackville, Miller, Leonard, Sekhon, Thames, Clinton, Hopkins, James Streets and Mary Avenue.
