Description

We have 104 allotments up for auction at an “Upset” price (the reserve price) of 6 shillings a frontage foot. Most lots were 40 feet wide so the cost would be 240 shillings, $24 in decimal currency. This sale is bounded by Burnside Street in the east, Ballarat Road in the north, Hamilton Street in the west and both sides of Tulloch Street in the south. Three streets cut through the development, Canterbury and Fraser (now Christie) Street running east/west and Miles street north/south from Ballarat Road to Canterbury. The original sale was scheduled for the 13th of November but it seems 14 lots sold prior to this sale a week later.
