North is out to the right on the poster – always confuses me. The date of the auction is in smallish print in the box below the illustration of the yacht. Advertisements for the auction appeared only a fortnight before the auction but were in most of the local and major newspapers in Melbourne. There were no reports on how well the sale went but one allotment (30 by 197 ft) was for sale 4 months later at £1/15/0 per foot. The development starts on the corner of St Kilda Street and the Esplanade and heads north west to the southern side of Foam Street and north east to Ormond Road. Joyce Street, Kingsley Street and Phillis Street run through the development.
