Description
A large auction sale of 84 lots in 1886. The land runs south from the southern side of Reynard Road along both sides of Shaftsbury Street and Willow Grove picking up Churchill (now Linda) Street – both sides. The auctioneers, Patterson & Sons, ran many advertisements for the development and fortunately they did report to the Argus on the outcome of the auction – Monday the 6th of December 1886:-
Messrs Patterson and Sons report having held a
sale of Maybank North Estate, Coburg, this after-
noon the prices realised for the frontages in
Reynard Road ranged from 14s. 6d to 10s. per
foot, in Shaftsbury Street from 15s. to 17s 6d per
foot and in Willow Grove from 12s 6d to 14s 6d
per foot.
The report does not mention Churchill Street (now Linda).
