Description
A report in “The Argus” of the 16th of April 1883 says
“Mr. J. B. Patterson reports on having a good sale on Saturday, at Moreland-road, Brunswick, on behalf of Mr William Davis. The whole 48 allotments offered were disposed of at prices, on the Sydney Road frontages, ranging from 30s to 70s per frontage foot, depth 132ft. The Moreland-road frontage brought 28s 6 to 36s per foot. Total amount of sale was £2,908 7s 6d.”
I could not find any reference to the 28 allotments north of Moreland Road. The subdivision starts on the western side of Sydney Road between Allen Street and Wlliam (now Peveril) Street and Allen Street and heads west to Cameron Street. Parts of Moreland Road and Davies (now Cozens) Streets are covered.
