Mount Ida Estate 1925 – Hawthorn

Normally these auction posters show the development in the form of a map, rarely do they add perspective. The poster does not name the street or streets where the blocks are but given the title of the estate one might assume that they are centered on Mount Ida Avenue. Here is a copy of a report in the Age of the 21st of September 1925:-

“Duncan and Weller Pty. Ltd. report a successful sale of the Mount Ida estate, Hawthorn, on Saturday last, where the attendance was estimated at over 1000. Bidding generally was active, and the whole of the 52 lots on the plan were disposed of at prices ranging from £7 15/ to £8/ 2/0 for Tooronga-road frontages, and’ from £5 12/0 to     £6-17/6 per foot for inside lots. The total realised was nearly £21,000.”
