Description

The poster claims “Cheap Land” and they used it in the advertisements but if you believe the annotations on the poster the sale prices were not that cheap. Most blocks going for £1 per frontage foot. That would be £33 for a narrow block in 1885. Sixty years later a 50 foot block in the SE suburbs went for £50 – my parents bought it. This subdivision (north is out to the left) starts on both sides of Mirls Street between Woods and Mason Streets and heads west along Anderson, Ford, Agg and Speight Streets. It spreads about two thirds of the way to Jacks (now Jack) Street.
