Description

An amazing plan for Mentone.  It is 1853 and many of the streets are named and still retain those names. The two Government Roads  are now called Balcombe and Charman.  The railway is yet to be envisaged. How deep are the blocks?  Explains in a way, why the center of some blocks became horse training stables. The scale seems to be a bit out when looking at Swanston Street and the distance to the highway (Arthur’s Seat Road).  Given that, in 1853 it was just a concept, one can overlook it.
