Roma Estate 3rd April 1915 – Upwey

The poster did not say it but the estate went to auction on Saturday the 3rd of April 1915. Reports in the papers on the next Thursday declared that 30 of the 57 allotments sold on the day. Allotments on Ternes Road made £13/10/- while those on Ferguson went for £25 for a 90 foot frontage. The subdivision has altered a little over time but generally centres along Roma Parade starting at Fern Tree Gully Road (now Old Belgrave Road) and spreads along Belmont Avenue, Ferguson Street and the northern side of Ternes Road for approximately 180 metres.
