Description
The poster, from 1913, features a development that runs along the west side of West Prussia Road (now Wartirna) from the railway line over half-way to Canterbury Road. There are 43 blocks that vary in size from a regular house blocks to over four acres. We are fortunate that someone has recorded the prices of many of the blocks. House blocks on Albert Street sold for 7 shillings (70 cents) per frontage foot – less than £25 a building site ($50). The development is spread out over the area bounded by, Thanet, Albert, Arlington, Barkly, Kirk, Vine, Surrey and Yarmouth Streets.
