Landcox Estate Brighton 21st May 1881 – Brighton East

Description

A grand development of some 104 acres, mainly one acre lots,  which start on the south side of North Road and runs south along both sides of Clonaig and Landcox streets to Union Street picking up Milroy, Landsdown, Lockwood, Edward, Wairoa and Mavis Streets on the way. Mrs. Elizabeth Bent seems to have purchased much of the estate and there was and inquiry, “The Bent Inquiry” in June 1882. I’m not sure what the inquiry was about – something to do with gravel and railways? – maybe not.
