Description
In November 1886 there were advertisement offering “Trafalgar Park” for sale “at an early” date. On the 7th of December there was note in the Argus that “Trafalgar Park”, some 7 or so acres, sold for £2,800. The advertisements after that came thick and fast. Some were as strange as the drawing of this map – north is to the bottom of the page! At least someone is being helpful by inking in the sale price – top price was 60 shillings, £3, per frontage foot. So 30 lots at around 50 foot frontages and a average price of 55 shillings – that would be £4,125 – only 60% sold so £2,475 back in one month. The poster is a little faded and the inking is visible and I have left it that way.
