The Carnegie Estate 2nd April 1910 Carnegie – Malvern East
$16.50 – $49.50
72 allotments for auction on the corner of Darling and Dandenong Roads, near the Carnegie Railway Station in 1910.
Description
The auctioneer has recorded many of the sales, most going for less than a £1 per frontage foot but those on Dandenong Road sold for twice that. Lot 2 selling for £2/10/0 per frontage foot. Newspaper reports said that there was a large attendance and among the sales, lot 1, sold for £3 per foot but that is not recorded on the poster. Not all sold on the day but the auctioneers, Duncan and Weller, reported selling a further 12 lot during the next week. The development starts on the north east corner of Darling and Dandenong Roads, heads north to Washington Lane, then east covering the western side of Boston Avenue.
