Hyde Park Estate 20th October, 1883 – Kew

There were not that many advertisements for the sale and I could find no newspaper reports on the auction. However 2 months before the auction a “Hugh Peck” was running small advertisments saying he had blocks in the “Hyde Park Estate” for £45. He was also advertising blocks from other subdivisions. The subdivision runs west from Childers Street between Eglinton Street and Bulleen Road (now High Street) to cover both sides of Disraeli Street. Streets that cross are Gladstone, Hartington and Bright. Someone has recorded some sale prices, lot 3 for example going for 15/- per frontage foot – amazing, £45 – as Hugh Peck said.
