Description
In October 1881 the 10 acre Auburn Vale Estate was sold as a whole. There were some subdivisional sales in December 1886 – advertisements centered on High Street. This sale was reported as “spirited” and 25 allotments sold making a total of £7,281-16-3, and average of around £300 per block. The auctioneers withdrew the balance and were refusing offers – expecting to get higher prices later. Streets involved are High Street, Hampden Road, Auburn Grove, Denbigh Road and Avondale Road.
