Description
A massive development of 260 allotments on the north east corner of Balwyn and Doncaster Roads. It seems that the area has been split into 5 sections A, B, C, D and E. The first sale was on the 10th of October 1885 and this the second was actually broken into two sales, the one on the 24th and the next on the 31st. In their advertisement for the second part the auctioneers stated:-
In consequences of the GREAT SUCCESS of last Saturday’s Sale, and the Great Disappointment of numbers who, through Inadequate Conveyances were Unable to Reach the Estate, The SALE will be CONTINUED NEXT SATURDAY.
UPSET PRICE, 10s. PER FOOT.
The “Upset Price” is the reserve price. The subdivision runs north along Balwyn Road to Turnley Street, along Turnley to Wallnutt Road and down that road to Doncaster Road.
