Charlesworth Estate 1913 – Mitcham

Description

64 allotments going to auction in 1913 – 50 blocks between 1/2 and 2 acres and 14 between 2 and 7 acres. The newspaper “Malvern Standard” from the 10th May 1913 reported that the auctioneers claimed that 13 lots sold for £659.  There is is no indication which lots sold. The area covered is bounded by Doncaster East Road in the west, Quarry Road in the north and Dawe Road in the east and Whitehorse in the south. Many new roads have been added as some of the larger allotments were subdivided in later years. These include Austin Street, Ireland Avenue, Rye Street, Dalmor Avenue, Glen Road, Cherry, Sunset and Elva Courts.
