Garfield Estate Cheltenham 1900

Description

This is the Garfield Estate – right opposite Southland and next to the extension. There are 120 lots for sale and the year is 1900. I found an advertisement from the 21st of July 1888 offering 33 acres for sale. Finding out about the results was difficult. Advertisements for this sale were also elusive. There were however advertisements for auctions around 1920/21 but for much fewer lots. The layout of the streets have change a little, May Street is still there but now is at 90° to Garfield Street. Minnie Street has gone as has Belle. Sinclair Street is still there, has retianed its angle but goes all the way towards the railway line. Not to left out Jean Street has popped up running parallel to Garfield about half way to the train line.
