Description

The subdivision has 158 allotments and runs eastward from Summer Hill Road between Baker Parade (now Yuille Street) and Fakenham Road (now Aitchinson Avenue) across the Anniversary Outer Circle Trail to a point level with the lane-way on Eleanor Street. Given the date, late in 1888, I did not expect to find any reports on how well the auction went but there in the Oakleigh Leader of the 9th of November, page 5, was this:-

Messrs. Doherty and Turner report having sold by auction, on Saturday 27th October, in conjunction with Munro and  Baillieu, 96 allotments in the Gladys Park Estate, Glen Iris, at prices varying from £7 to £2 5s. per foot; also privately after the sale, 16 allotments at £3 12s. 6d. per foot. Grand total, £21,072 13s. 7d.
