Description
The earlier advertisements did not mention how many lots would be for sale – just that Mr. Brunning had spend hundreds of pounds on water for his nursery. Advertisements close to the date of the sale said “Plans are now available”. The auctioneers also likened some allotments to High Street Armadale stating that £25 to £35 per frontage foot may be likely. It looks like lots 1 and 2 made £8-15-0 per foot – a total of £1200. Quite some sum for 1885. Mr. Brunnings nursery subdivision starts on the south east corner of Grosvenor Street and Brighton Road (now Nepean Highway) and extends south to cover both sides of Brunning Street then heads east to the Brighton Railway line. Woodstock and Gibbs Streets run through the subdivision.
