Description
A less than professional poster of the subdision on the northeast corner of Canterbury and Burke Roads, Camberwell – but it exists and very many have not been saved. The subdivision went to auction on the 24th of February 1912 and below is a report from the Herald of Monday the 26th:-
REAL PROPERTY
Messrs Sydney C. Arnold and Co. and H. D. Westley and Co. sold by auction
on Saturday thirty villa lots in the Parlington Estate, Camberwell. The
average frontages were 65ft. to 70ft and the depths 150ft.
There was a large attendance at the sale. Eight Canterbury Road frontages realised £4/5/ to £1/15/ a foot: the corner of, Canterbury and Burke roads brought the highest price, £6; and along Burke Road other lots brought £3,. £3/15/ and £5/2/0. Other inside lots were sold from £2/15/. to £3/4/. . Parlington House. on land 210ft. by 408ft. was passed in at £2000.
Streets covered by the subdivision include Gascoyne Street, Harcourt (now Allenby) Road, Torrington Street, Parlington Street and the north east corner of Burke and Canterbury Roads
