Service Street Coburg 1884

Description

A small development of 20 small allotment from 1884. Normally land in the area at that time may have gone for 10/- per frontage foot. Below is an article from the North Melbourne Advertiser of the 5th of December 1884:-

“That being the case, the Service Street sale may be said to have been superlatively good, although this is nearly always the addenda to any sales conducted by Messrs Patterson and Sons, in-as-much as apart from the large attendance, numbering over two hundred, the lots sold fetched from 14s. 6d. to 23s. per foot. The weather was all that could have been desired, and with their customary attention to business the firm had a good substantial luncheon provided for the convenience of hungry buyers.”
